PRE-RACE INFORMATION

Logistics and Scheduling

Start Times
  • 23 km – 7:30 AM

  • 13 km – 8:00 AM

  • 5 km – 8:30 AM

  • Kids Loop – 12:30 PM

Get there early, soak in the atmosphere, and be ready to go. We recommend arriving 45–60 minutes before your start to park, check in, and get race-ready.

Bib/Packet Pick-Up

Race bibs and welcome kits can be collected on Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM outside MUDDUCKS CAFE.

​

Official event merchandise will also be available for purchase during this time.

​

Race-day bib collection will be available at the park and closes 30 minutes before each race start.

Bag Drop Details

A secure bag drop service will be available on race morning for your convenience.

​

Please label your belongings using the provided tag to ensure a smooth and efficient collection post-race.

​

Bag drop is located at the Old Woolshed.

GETTING TO "THAT PLACE - MTB Park"

Located approximately 25 minutes from Whanganui CBD, nestled in the heart of the region's most pristine terrain.

Head north-east on State Highway 4. Follow the signs toward National Park. The park entry is clearly marked with 'THAT RACE' sign.

IMPORTANT: Please be aware that access include sections of narrow, one-way gravel roads. Follow marshal instructions for safe entry and exit.

Before or after the race, refuel at some of Whanganui’s great local cafés and restaurants. Mud Ducks is a local favourite for coffee, brunch, and river views, with plenty of other great food spots to explore around town.

THAT PLACE also offers on-site accommodation with unique domes and a camping area, giving runners the chance to stay right in the heart of the event atmosphere and trail network. First aid is available at the main marquees. Please keep your phone charged. After the last runner, a bike escort will ensure no one is left behind.

Rules & Restrictions

Headphones are not recommended due to terrain. Pacing is allowed without pushing/pulling. Mandatory gear may apply; check Race Info for details.

Start Position

Place yourself at the start line according to your speed—faster runners at the front, and steadier starters further back.

POST-RACE INFO

Medal Collection

Head to the designated tent near the finish line to collect your hard-earned finisher's medal.

Results

Track your performance! Live timing updates will be posted to our official results page throughout the day.

Prize-Giving

Stay for the ceremony at the main stage at 1:00 pm - where we celebrate our winners and hand out special awards.
